What is screw locking varnish?
Screw locking varnish is a special adhesive that is applied to or inside a screw connection to prevent or hinder the screw connection from loosening independently and undesirably. The term "screw locking compound", which is commonly used in German-speaking countries, has nothing to do with paints used for surface coating. Screw locking compounds are available in different strength classes and for different temperature ranges. In addition to almost completely hardening variants, which achieve very high strength and are suitable for permanent connections that are difficult to loosen or can only be loosened with heat, there are also variants that remain in a viscous-sticky to rubbery state and allow the screw connection to be loosened later or serve to seal existing screw connections. The choice depends on the area of application. To distinguish between the different types, they are marked in different colours across all manufacturers.
